Alcohol consumption affects us in several ways. After 1 or 2 drinks you may feel more confident and more talkative as the alcohol gets into the brain and affects your thinking.
Alcohol abuse causes your heart rate to increase and you may feel a warm glow. This is caused by alcohol making tiny Veins in the skin expand, allowing blood to flow nearer to the surface and lowers blood pressure.

The effects of alcohol consumption include anxiety, slowed breathing and heartbeat, impaired judgment leading to accidents and injuries, loss of consciousness, suffocation through choking on your own vomit and potentially fatal alcohol poisoning.

Drinking alcohol increases your calorie intake. There are 125 calories in a medium-sized (175ml) glass of wine and over 500 in a bottle!

High quantities of drinking may occasionally lead to ‘psychosis’, a severe mental illness where hallucinations and delusions of persecution develop. Consuming large amounts of alcohol might lead to lonliness and hopelessness.
