It is not that often that people offer very much thought to the roof until some kind of problem crops up and a repair becomes necessary. The phrase keeping a roof over your head is a part of our everyday language, though thankfully not many families in our country have to experience living without a functional roof.
Roof tiles are possibly the most durable roof building material ever used. There are several examples throughout the world of tiled roofs lasting for hundreds of years. Despite this durability roof tiles can easily become damaged by wind damage, cracking, spalling or shattering. Almost all tile roofing will need the odd spot of maintenance from time to time. A leaky roof might not become noticable in the living area for quite some time, however a small amount of water leaking through broken tiles onto timbers can cause rot to start developing. These problems need to be spotted early to avoid more serious problems later on. The ideal way to nip problems in the bud is to give your roof the occasional visual inspection for damage. It is amazing how few homeowners ever take the time to inspect their roof unless a problem has actually developed.
If you are undertaking a house construction project and you have yet to decide on the best roof material to use, then a tiled roof must be under consideration. If you require an attractive and long lasting roof for your house then roof tiles are a great choice in my considered opinion. A well tiled roof can be a masterpiece of design or it can be just plain and fuctional. Very few roofing solutions are as attractive to the eye as a perfectly tiled roof.
A roof tiled in top quality clay or slate tiles can also improve the resale value of your real estate as the kerbside appeal will rise if good looking, durable tiled roof is installed. The most common roof tiles in current use are clay tiles, slate tiles and concrete tiles. Most real estate projects look fantastic with slate roofs or clay tiled roofs. Concrete tiles are usually the cheapest and most basic tiled roofing solution. Concrete roof tiles are however usually considered to be the least desirable of the roof tile options though there are still numerous attractive concrete tiles around.
